My path

Maths did not come easily to me. I had to repeat year 8, and after year 9 I dropped out of school. Later I caught up on every qualification, studied business mathematics and finished my master's in financial mathematics top of my year.

I have always loved programming: starting with data analysis in R, then interactive Shiny apps, then maths apps for students. For two years I worked as a BI consultant, building SAP-based data models. I also teach courses on R and Excel at universities.

Then I moved to El Salvador and spent two years teaching at the German school there. With Mathebaustein I built a complete learning platform, from the design through accounts and appointment booking to its own server.

I like working with small businesses, because every hour saved counts straight away and a modest effort can achieve a lot. Large agencies are often too expensive and too remote for that. With me, there are no layers in between.

How I work

  • Understand first, then build

Before writing a line of code, I want to know how your business runs, who will use the solution and what success looks like.

  • Communicate clearly

Plain language instead of jargon, regular check-ins instead of radio silence. You always know where your project stands.

  • Keep it simple

A few well-chosen tools rather than complex infrastructure. If it isn't needed, it doesn't get built.

  • Quality you don't see

Clean code, security, accessibility and testing go unnoticed day to day. That is exactly why I take them seriously.

  • Responsibility beyond launch

A solution is only good if it works in everyday use. That's why documentation and a walkthrough are always included.

My standard

A good digital tool feels obvious to the people who use it. It saves time instead of creating new work, and it keeps working long after everyone has stopped thinking about the project.

That is how I judge my work: not by the number of features, but by whether your team and your clients get on better with it than before.
